What We Believe
What do Seventh-day Adventists believe? Seventh Day Adventists believe in the Bible. In 1847 James White, one of the founders of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, declared in A Word to the Little Flock page 13, “The Bible is a revelation perfect and complete.” Then in December 1849 in The Present Truth, one of the first Adventist publications, James White made a similar statement: “The Bible is our map, our guide. It’s our only rule of faith and practice, to which we adhere faithfully.”
The people of the world wide Seventh Day Adventist Church, in General Conference, have chosen to formulate a statement of fundamental beliefs that may be modified as biblical truth becomes clearer. First adopted in 1980, the most recent revision can be found at the official General Conference of Seventh Day Adventists website.
